Meet Our Team
Joanne Buitenhuis
RVT
Joanne graduated from Fairview College in 1985 and has worked in a variety of veterinary clinics since that time. She has been a part-time technician at Vitality Veterinary Services since January 2023. Joanne likes meeting clients and their pets, educating them about nutrition, and talking about how to live a good, long, healthy life.
She has a keen interest in dentistry and enjoys assisting with the procedures for all species. Joanne lives on a mixed farm just outside of Yorkton with two dogs, Max and Molly, two cats, Thomas and Holly, a small bovine herd, and chickens!
Andrea Griffin
Office Administration
Andrea is our local girl, born and raised in Yorkton, SK. She obtained her Office Education Certificate in 2008 and has worked in almost every industry, gaining many valuable skills along the way. Andrea runs reception and has done so since March 2022. If you have stopped by or called the clinic, you have probably already had the privilege of meeting her.
Andrea is always ready to lend a helping hand when it is needed, and she does so with a smile on her face. Andrea is great at juggling all the tasks and schedules, including trying to keep everyone organized, and on time. When she is not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family or working on various crochet and crafting projects.
Megan Malinowski
RVT
Megan grew up on a cattle farm in Southwest Saskatchewan. She graduated from Olds College in 2010 and has been working in mixed animal practice ever since. She has a soft spot for Border Collies, Golden Retrievers and orange tabby cats. She has been part of the Vitality Veterinary Services team since May 2022 and has a passion for all things large animal, but also really enjoys small animal surgery.
She currently resides on a farm north of Theodore where she and her husband keep busy raising Purebred Red Angus cattle and their two children. Outside of the clinic, Megan enjoys camping, hiking, fishing and spending time at their family cabin.
Kylie McCallum-Andries
RVT
Kylie grew up on a farm outside Deloraine, MB, where her passion for animals flourished. In high school, if she wasn’t competing, she was practicing with her horse Tic Tac Toe. Kylie attended the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Veterinary Technologist program in Saskatoon, SK, and graduated in 2021. Upon graduation, she spent some time working in Manitoba.
Fortunately for us, she met a boy and moved to Langenburg, SK, where she joined our team in May of 2023! Kylie enjoys spending quality time with her dogs, Kane and Lilo. Her favourite thing about working with animals is that there is always an opportunity to learn more. Outside of the clinic, Kylie enjoys travelling, fishing, camping, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Brittany Johnsgaard
DVM – Owner
Dr. Brittany Johnsgaard was raised on a grain farm near Stewart Valley, SK. For as long as she can remember, she wanted to be a veterinarian, and she set out on that path right out of high school. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science, in 2011 from the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Agriculture and Bioresources. She then went on to convocate from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016.
Dr. Brittany has moved around and worked in various locations in Saskatchewan since beginning her career, and finally settled here in the fall of 2019, with plans to stay put. When Vitality Veterinary Services first began, Dr. Brittany was primarily in the background, taking care of the bookwork while on her second maternity leave. She “officially” joined Dr. Trach when the couple moved the business from their home to the current clinic in 2022. She enjoys working with small animals and horses but has decided to dedicate her time specifically to small animals while in-clinic. She has a special place in her heart for Pugs!
When not at work, Brittany enjoys spending time with her partner, Dr. Trach, and their three daughters, as well as their bunny (who often needs rescuing from treat overload or very long ‘walks’), reading a good book, working out, enjoying the outdoors, and making the long trek home to see family and friends.
Dr. Brittany looks forward to growing, both as a veterinarian and as a business owner alongside Dr. Trach, as well as helping current and new clients and patients at Vitality Veterinary Services.
Dr. Leuraunt Trach
DVM – Owner
Dr. Leuraunt Trach grew up on his family farm in Mikado, SK, where they farmed grainland and raised purebred Black Angus cattle. He has always had a close connection with the livestock they’ve raised and the pets that have run among them. Dr. Trach credits this upbringing for fostering his passion for agriculture and animal health, both of which inspired him to become a veterinarian.
Dr. Trach graduated from the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Agriculture and Bioresources with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, majoring in Animal Science in 2010. After obtaining that degree and with a future goal of entrepreneurship, he completed another three years of classes with a focus on business. He was then accepted into the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, which he convocated from in 2018. Dr. Trach worked at another rural SK veterinary clinic for a short period immediately after leaving vet school. Then, he had the opportunity to move back to Yorkton, where he founded Vitality Veterinary Services in the fall of 2019. Dr. Trach works on all species but is particularly fond of bovine patients!
Alongside running a business, he has also been farming grain and raising purebred cattle for the last eight years. Due to his academic and now professional endeavours, this has not been a full-time commitment, and he has been very fortunate to have his parents helping with the daily operation of the farm. When not tied up with being a veterinarian and a farmer, Dr. Trach enjoys spending time with his partner (in life and business), Dr. Brittany, and their three daughters, Embrie, Oaklynn, and Ivy. The family also recently acquired a new pet – a bunny named Joey (also known affectionately as Jo-Jo, Josephine, Joe Dog, plus many more) – who has become extremely friendly after being given way too many treats and often being led around on a leash by one of the girls!
Dr. Trach is excited to see what the future brings with the expansion into the new clinic in the winter and looks forward to continuing to serve all 2 and 4-legged clients and patients!
